Salary: $21.00 hourly for 30 to 40 hours per week

Shifts: Early Morning
Work setting: Child care centre, urban area, and willing to relocate

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 to less than 3 years
Credentials: Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in a noisy environment and be comfortable in an air-conditioned setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and be capable of performing a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as bending, crouching, and kneeling as necessary

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, as well as engage in storytelling
  • The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, and guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, as well as establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
