Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of some secondary school (minimum Grade 10)
Experience: Candidates should have 1 month of experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the physical capacity to perform the duties of the position
  • The candidates should be able to work different work schedules
  • The candidates should be capable of operating hand tools and power tools such as jackhammers, tampers, levels, chainsaws, push snow blowers, push mowers, and grass trimmers

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be holders of current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates, which are assets
  • The candidates should possess a valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated, which is an asset
  • The candidates should have a general knowledge of City Services and proper lifting techniques
  • The candidates should have knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain a good working relationship with management, other employees, and the general public
  • The candidates should be able to successfully complete a Back-fit Test
  • The candidates should possess the physical capability to perform the ongoing duties of the position
  • The candidates should be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively with the general public and staff
  • The candidates should demonstrate reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy
  • The candidates should display initiative and willingness to contribute
  • The candidates should be effective team members and willing to work overtime as required

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department’s responsibility for building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant City
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that communities, residents, and visitors have access to recreation and cultural places, programs, events, and services, allowing them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer
  • The candidates should be able to oversee Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and assist customers in the use of a facility or site on behalf of the City of Ottawa
