Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, On Call, Early Morning and Morning
Work setting: On-site customer service, service, maintenance and repair
Work site environment: Candidates should work in noisy, at heights and confined spaces
Security and safety: Basic security clearance required, criminal record should checked, driver’s validity licence should checked
Own tools/equipment: Candidates should have tools and steel-toed safety boots
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates need experience 5 years or more
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Candidates must have Elevating devices mechanic, Elevator Constructor and Mechanic Trade Certification, Elevator Mechanic (non-construction) Trade Certification, Canadian Elevator Industry Educational Program and Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA) Certification
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work overtime, handle heavy loads, stand for extended periods and also for bending, crouching, kneeling
- The candidate should be physically strong
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work in an organized way
- The candidate should be a team player and also have accuracy
- The candidate should have experience of equipment and machinery like dumbwaiters, electronic devices, escalators, hydraulic elevators, moving walkways, solid state devices, traction elevators and also disability elevators
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to assemble, install, repair, and maintain elevators, escalators, moving walkways and related equipment, install and wire electric and electronic control system devices, install, test and adjust safety control devices and also test operation of newly installed equipment
- The candidate should be able to read and interpret blueprints, disassemble defective units and repair or replace suspect parts, adjust valves, ratchets, seals, brake linings and other components, carry out preventative maintenance programs to ensure public safety, troubleshoot electrical or mechanical systems failures and also maintain log books that detail all repairs and checks performed
- The candidate should be able to instruct apprentices
