It coordinates information dissemination, crisis management, and operational planning. It ensures efficient deployment of resources and timely communication, enhancing Alberta Health Services’ responsiveness and effectiveness in serving the community. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification and in cases where candidate does not currently hold EMD certification, the certification course will be provided upon hire

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide safe and effective emergency medical call taking and dispatch services to ambulances
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate and process emergency and non-emergency calls through established guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to make key decisions and contribute to the EMS dispatch process and strategies
  • The candidates should be able to be a great communicators, proficient in both talking and listening
  • The candidates should be able to keep a cool head under pressure and maintain a calm, confident voice on the phone with 911 callers while collecting necessary information to dispatch emergency crews
  • The candidates should be able to quickly and accurately transcribe calls as they come in, prioritize tasks on the fly, and clearly relay essential information

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000
