Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a two-year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology
Experience: Candidates should have five years of engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills, ability, and supervisory experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution and have in the relevant areas of engineering, or possess an equivalent combination of training and experience
- The candidates should have technical expertise applicable to the specific role and possess a valid BC Driver’s License
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform administrative and supervisory duties in project management, planning, coordinating, reporting, monitoring, policy interpretation, and cost control for roads, drainage, and traffic operations
- The candidates should be able to assist senior staff in the selection and management of consultants providing engineering services, and with the preparation, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, capital work, and maintenance programs
- The candidates should be able to have thorough knowledge of construction and engineering practices, relevant design criteria, specifications, conditions of contract and tendering procedures, as well as estimating and scheduling, support Transportation and Land Development capital projects
- The candidates should be able to perform traffic calming assessments and deliver associated projects, work in a fast-paced environment and possess sound project management skills
- The candidates should be able to have strong interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership abilities, be a team player who thrives in a challenging environment and possesses excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- The candidates should be able to have thorough knowledge of GIS ArcMap and Cityworks with the ability to modify, edit, create, and update assets, and liaise with the City’s GIS group, have good knowledge of municipal roads and drainage maintenance and construction
