Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a minimum of Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have experience operating related equipment and demonstrate mechanical aptitude
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to undertake further training and travel to various sites for occasional visits and supply their own personal vehicle for job duties/corporate business
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a recognized Refrigeration Certification and a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certificate; consideration may be given to applicants who do not currently hold these certifications
- The candidates should be familiar with all aspects of facility operations and maintenance, including ice and public swimming pool maintenance, Certified Ice Technician (C.I.T) accreditation and pool operations courses
- The candidates should have previous experience and training in operating a recreational arena, pool, community center, and facility maintenance and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act,  excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- The candidates should provide a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License (Class G minimum) with a driving record demonstrating responsible and safe driving behavior Applicants with six or more points are ineligible for consideration
- The candidates should be able to provide a current driver’s abstract (no older than 30 days) and pass a Town-administered road test as a condition of employment
- The candidates should provide a satisfactory criminal record check dated within the last 30 days if they are new hires or have not previously performed in this position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform work related to the operation and maintenance of recreation facilities and assets under general supervision
- The candidates should be able to provide quality customer service to town staff, the public, and external agencies
- The candidates should be able to work constructively in a team environment and act independently as required, exercising good judgment with safe and appropriate practices and procedures
- The candidates should be able to perform daily facility maintenance, including ice resurfacing and maintenance, preventative and demand maintenance, custodial tasks, and pool water maintenance
- The candidates should be able to perform manual duties involving basic repairs, service, and maintenance work on plant equipment and properties
- The candidates should be able to provide direction to part-time employees regarding facility operations, operate equipment used in facility and asset maintenance in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, participate in facility and program projects
- The candidates should be able to work shifts that include weekdays, evenings, and weekends, conduct occasional site visits to satellite facilities within the district and perform other duties
