Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Veterinarian Technician diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of administrative or supervisory experience working with various community resources, utilizing marketing and public relations skills

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience working as a Veterinarian Technician and in an educational role supporting and guiding students
  • The candidates should possess mediation and conflict resolution skills as a preferred qualification

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to arrange and coordinate field practicum sites for the Veterinarian Technician program across all relevant semesters, managing student placement lists, develop and maintain relationships with community partners
  • The candidates should be able to manage the field practicum database in Sheridan Works, consult with Veterinarian Technician Program Coordinators regarding practicum scheduling issues and reassess practicum sites regularly
  • The candidates should be able to compile, review, and distribute field placement materials to students, faculty, support staff, and program coordinators, conduct field visits as required for students, faculty, and agencies
  • The candidates should be able to educate and inform students, Clinical Instructors, Placement Supervisors, Sheridan Faculty, and Program Coordinators about practicum models, policies, procedures, and site requirements conduct pre-practicum classroom meetings, presentations, and workshops to educate students and instructors on practicum requirements, policies, and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain administrative policies, procedures, and documentation for practicum-related issues, respond to student and field inquiries regarding practicum requirements
  • The candidates should be able to provide a link between program faculty and the Professional Advisory Council to ensure consistency between curriculum and field practicum, develop and update the Field Manual and other practicum-related information
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain community relationships by planning and organizing special events and representing Sheridan at relevant community meetings and attend Clinical and Experiential Learning team meetings and faculty meetings
  • The candidates should be able to engage actively as a member of the Clinical and Experiential Learning team, contributing to the development of new or revised processes and infrastructure and perform other duties
