Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of a degree in Commerce, major accounting in Canada
Experience: Candidates should have Two years supervisory experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess financial management skills and proven practices, including budgeting, variance reporting, contracts, and planning
  • The candidates should have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with clients and program staff to ensure compliance with required financial procedures and minimize conflict
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to negotiate issues and successfully communicate financial concepts to finance and program staff
  • The candidates should have completed the CPA PREP program and a University Business Degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance
  • The candidates should have three years of experience working in the financial and accounting area specific to the job requirements in a large post-secondary educational institution in a cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Comptroller of the Finance Division in the Office of the President
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other accounting staff to ensure accurate and consistent execution of accounts payable, receivable, collection functions, purchasing, third party, service contract management, supply management, and financial procedures
  • The candidates should be able to work within the context of the College’s vision and principles, following guidelines such as the Financial Administration Act (FAA), Financial Administration Manual, Public Service Act, Aurora College Act, Human Resources Manual, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) implemented by the Public Service Accounting Board
  • The candidates should be able to implement new procedures in their areas of responsibility
  • The candidates should be able to interpret legislation, regulations, directives, and Aurora College policies related to the operation and administration of educational programs
