The Governing Council of The Salvation Army based in Dartmouth, NS is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Halfway house worker. The Governing Council of The Salvation Army serves as the central administrative body overseeing the organization’s mission and operations in the region. Committed to providing compassionate care and support to those in need, The Salvation Army operates a wide range of programs and services, including shelters, food assistance, addiction recovery, and community outreach initiatives. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Job Description:

Salary: $17.00 hourly for 24 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: 318 Windmill Road Dartmouth, NS B3A 1H5
Shifts: Weekend
Transportation information: Own transportation and Own vehicle
Work setting: Half-way house
Supervision: 16-20 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Credentials: First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Enhanced reliability security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and work effectively under pressure
  • The candidates should possess keen attention to detail and be able to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should strive to be accurate in their work and possess efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral communication abilities and exhibit interpersonal awareness
  • The candidates should exercise sound judgment in their decision-making and uphold values and ethics in their conduct
  • The candidates should prioritize client focus in their interactions and display excellent written communication skills
  • The candidates should show flexibility in their approach to tasks and demonstrate initiative in their work
  • The candidates should collaborate effectively as team players and maintain an organized work style

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform administrative and office activities and supervise the terms of probation orders
  • The candidates should be able to resolve conflict situations and supervise activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses
