Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have customer service experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to learn large amounts of information quickly and confidently speak and work with a range of audiences with varying backgrounds, from young children to seniors, in groups both large and small
  • The candidates should have the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a small workplace team
  • The candidates should have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods as well as lift and carry moderate loads

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a basic understanding of the history of Alberta, an interest in historical interpretation, as well as communication, creativity, and organizational skills
  • The candidates should have post-secondary education and experience in education, drama, historical interpretation, Canadian history, Indigenous studies, and recreation administration
  • The candidates should have experience with children and seniors, and fluency in French and Indigenous languages

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with a small team to lead tours of historic site structures and landscapes
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the planning, development, and presentation of educational programs and special events for visitors of all ages
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate craft and skill demonstrations anddevelop skills in leadership, public speaking, customer service, program and event development, interpretation techniques, research, social media planning, and historical crafts and skills
  • The candidates should be able to collect admission fees and visitor statistics and promote events and handle gift shop sales
  • The candidates should be able to perform day-to-day administrative tasks and maintain the general order of visitor facilities
  • The candidates should be able to work weekends and, on occasion, travel alone or perform scheduled off-site work
