The TTC’s Information Technology Services department plays a vital role in shaping the future of public transit in Toronto, supporting the city’s growth and connectivity goals. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a university degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering or Business, or the equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have directly related experience working at a Systems Analyst and management level in a diverse information systems environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to apply analytical skills and communicate effectively in a variety of mediums
  • The candidates should engage in organizational development activities
  • The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities/projects to meet section and organizational goals
  • The candidates should have the ability to manage projects effectively
  • The candidates should demonstrate specialized expertise and knowledge in the assigned field
  • The candidates should be able to manage conflict effectively
  • The candidates should possess extensive knowledge of systems development, including methodology through detailed design, construction, implementation, and production support
  • The candidates should have experience with Mission Critical systems like CAD/AVL, Customer Facing Information systems, Transit Planning/Scheduling Systems, and Methodologies would be an asset
  • The candidates should have proven experience in managing teams, demonstrating a track record of success at a senior professional and project management working level, with seasoned, progressive experience across all phases of the systems development life cycle
  • The candidates must have or rapidly acquire comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
  • The candidates should possess sound judgment, superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, as well as developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • The candidates should have Familiarity with the latest trends and best practices in application development and support is desired
  • The candidates should have demonstrated success in executing strategic decisions that positively impact business outcomes
  • The candidates should have Proven ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, resulting in successful project outcomes
  • The candidates should have experience in implementing and maintaining customer-centric service delivery is preferred
  • The candidates should have experience in establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team’s performance and efficiency
  • The candidates should have experience in managing relationships with third-party vendors and contractors is required

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, direct, delegate, supervise, manage resources, conceptualize, coordinate, and oversee all activities of the Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Design Section as the Chief Engineer, Geotechnical
  • The candidates should be able to organize, prioritize, and oversee work to ensure the safety and security, technical accuracy, adequacy, and timely completion of all geotechnical & geoenvironmental designs for new construction, expansion, and renovation of various multimodal transit-related facilities, structures, and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to act as a subject matter expert representing the TTC on engineering-related matters, analyzing and reviewing TTC projects designed by consultants, as well as examining and evaluating proposed real estate development applications for coordination and impact to existing TTC properties, infrastructure, and/or protected provisions
  • The candidates should be able to establish, develop, categorize, maintain, initiate updates, and approve releases of TTC Design Standards (Design Manuals, Master Specifications, Standard & Directive Drawings) and TTC Developers Guide for internal and external design development purposes, as well as PSOS (Project Specific Output Specification) for design-build projects
  • The candidates should be able to promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs, and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program
  • The candidates should be able to work outside of normal working hours to meet objectives and deadlines or to respond to emergency calls
