Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a College Degree
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in crew scheduling, with supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to make effective decisions in a high-pressure and stressful environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have additional equivalent experience in airline operations and familiar with UNIFOR and ALPA Collective Agreements, which is beneficial
  • The candidates should have experience with Crew Scheduling systems such as Netline, Communicator, ReportLink which is advantageous
  • The candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with robust organizational abilities

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to align Crew Scheduling manpower planning with operational demands, ensuring staffing levels meet regulatory and contractual compliance requirements in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Crew Scheduling
  • The candidates should be able to direct and oversee a team of three Band D managers, including Crew Scheduling OPS Resolution managers and the Crew Deadhead and Travel manager, and ensure accurate compilation of data and reports on APPR investigations related to pilot scheduling
  • The candidates should be able to deliver regular updates and APPR insights to the Senior Director, Crew Scheduling (Flt Ops) and the Director of Operations, Crew Scheduling, identifying emerging operational trends affecting APPR costs and recommending mitigations for identified issues and collaborate with Revenue Management, CJM, YSJ Contact Centre, Airports, and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective oversight of crew travel, mitigating impacts to revenue customers while ensuring compliance with the ALPA Collective Agreement
  • The candidates should be able to provide oversight in ensuring the Flight Crew Scheduling department complies with Company policies, the Labour Code, and the UNIFOR Collective Agreement and guide the Flight Crew Scheduling Resources manager in developing schedules for new hire training classes, recurrent training programs, and team meetings at the OC
  • The candidates should be able to guide the Crew Deadhead and Travel manager in optimizing crew deadhead and travel logistics, ensuring alignment with scheduling objectives within the Flight Operations branch
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate closely with the Senior Manager, Pilot Scheduling Operations in tracking and reviewing employee performance, and participating in check-in and probationary release meetings
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with Labour Relations, the Legal department, and the Senior Manager, Pilot Scheduling Operations to address disciplinary issues, including active involvement in the UNIFOR grievance process
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with UNIFOR, participating in joint committees and UMHQ meetings, ensuring effective communication and swift problem resolution and actively participate in UNIFOR bargaining
  • The candidates should be able to lead the hiring process for unionized personnel and provide orientation for new employees and take the lead in employee rewards and recognition initiatives within the Crew Scheduling department under the guidance of the Director of Operations, Crew Scheduling
  • The candidates should be able to oversee the development and regular issuance of trend reports on scheduler attendance and maintain positive relationships with UNIFOR representatives, promptly addressing any issues brought forward by the union
