Other Requirements:

- The candidates should have a strong technical and working knowledge of airline ground support equipment and demonstrate project management experience
- The candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge of ramp handling and aircraft ground handling requirements

- The candidates should be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and other Air Canada Ground Support Equipment computer applications, such as M5 and E-Sage
- The candidates should have an effective working knowledge of, Canada Labour Code – Part II, Canadian Occupational Safety and Health and Aviation Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Corporate Risk Assessment Matrix, Safety Management System (SMS), Applicable Security Regulations, IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Standards, Corporate Environmental Guidelines and Air Canada’s internal publications: Pub 5 (Corporate Employee Health and Safety Manual), Pub 87 (GSE Standard Practices), Pub 88 (GSE Technical Directives), Pub 89 (GSE Paint Manual), and Pub 100 (Corporate Safety Management)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to lead Air Canada GSE asset programs, IOSA, SMS, and other regulatory requirements in partnership with the safety organization, address risks in new equipment operations by identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures
- The candidates should be able to oversee regional safety operations and support SOP audits ensure compliance with IOSA, SMS, and other authorities while promoting safety awareness, support management and ground handlers in safety, security, and customer service activities, collaborate with Corporate Safety, Environment, and Quality to mitigate GSE asset-related hazards and risks
- The candidates should be able to ensure that externally acquired products affecting operational safety or security meet required technical specifications, manage the station’s allocation of Air Canada ground support equipment
- The candidates should be able to oversee planning and logistics for new equipment and fleet redeployment, lead equipment projects supporting new aircraft acquisition programs and major schedule changes, develop and execute long-term GSE renewal plans, administer GSE technical purchase specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, and industry standards
- The candidates should be able to validate the disposal of surplus or scrap equipment and materials at all GSE locations, document all GSE disposals and transfers to ensure regulatory and Air Canada policy compliance
- The candidates should be able to lead evaluation, testing, and acceptance inspections of new GSE equipment, lead risk assessment, policy, and safety committee teams for newly acquired ground support equipment, establish and administer Air Canada GSE supply and service agreements in collaboration with Strategic Purchasing, manage and allocate GSE assets for Air Canada, Air Canada Express, and internal departments
- The candidates should be able to administer and maintain GSE asset unit ID systems for Air Canada and customer fleets, manage all M5 systems and records related to asset management, ensure the financial performance of all GSE capital activities through monitoring and corporate reporting, identify and implement process improvements to optimize operational and financial standards
- The candidates should be able to verify the accuracy of GSE vendor invoicing and approve associated expenses for payment, contribute to the development of strategies and corporate initiatives for Air Canada GSE
- The candidates should be able to anticipate, identify, and resolve service and operational problems with a results-oriented approach to safety, security, and performance, follow document retention guidelines as outlined in Pub 100, refer to Pub 100 for SMS management responsibilities
