Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in underground mining operations

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a strong safety focus, be self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • The candidates should have the ability to diagnose, repair, maintain, and overhaul mobile mining equipment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an Ontario or inter-provincial trade qualification, be accredited in underground common core modules and accreditation in specialty modules

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to check mobile mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • The candidates should be able to perform equipment removal, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, and repair
  • The candidates should be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair, interpret and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics accurately
  • The candidates should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools
  • The candidates should be able to test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  • The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform repair work on heavy trucks, attach components and adjust new equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • The candidates should be able to open work orders, locate parts, and complete parts lists in work orders using all available resources, perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Mobile Maintenance
