Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials:Â First Aid Certificate, Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety:Â Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and Vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to perform repetitive tasks, handle a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and be prepared for physically demanding work
- The candidates should be attentive to detail, have good manual dexterity, and be able to perform bending, crouching, and kneeling as required
- The candidates should be able to work outdoors, and be comfortable in a non-smoking environment

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, while leading activities such as storytelling, singing, and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, and encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, preparing crafts, and guiding them in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems, prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and establish guidelines for behaviour while ensuring compliance with licensing regulations
- The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and challenges, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, and plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, security, and well-being
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after school hours and supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and educator assistants
