Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French or English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and must possess a current BCLS (CPR) certificate
Experience: Candidates should have five years of experience within the mental health field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to foster and create a learning environment, and to motivate and challenge others
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have specific experience with clients with severe mental health and addiction issues and forensic histories
  • The candidates should have an MN/MScN or other relevant Master’s degree and a BN/BScN degree and computer literacy
  • The candidates should have CNA certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing and previous teaching experience
  • The candidates should have demonstrated the ability to intervene effectively in challenging clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behavior, as well as effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should be highly organized and possess excellent communication skills to facilitate working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • The candidates should have bilingualism (French or English) or proficiency in a second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to advance professional practice within clinical areas, including the inpatient Crisis Critical Care program, by contributing to the development of high-performing interprofessional clinical teams
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with program leadership, unit managers, and advanced practice clinical leads to assess and develop the clinical and leadership skills of point-of-care staff
  • The candidates should be able to focus on key areas such as scope of practice issues, interprofessional care planning, and the application of best practices at the point-of-care, as well as individual clinician and clinical team development
  • The candidates should be able to bring knowledge of best practices in teaching or learning for clinical staff, education development, and delivery in the care of adults with acute and complex mental illnesses and concurrent medical and addiction disorders
  • The candidates should be able to support clinical staff in implementing education initiatives such as patient safety initiatives, clinical policies and procedures, use of the I-CARE, and orientation of new employees to the program
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with unit managers on recruitment and performance management of staff, monitor clinical quality improvement measures, engage in program planning, and participate in program research/evaluation and other academic activities
  • The candidates should be able to support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements
