Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program with a Baccalaureate degree in nursing
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience within the last 7 years working in an adult acute care medicine/surgical setting
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should occasionally move or lift equipment weighing between 10-25 lbs
- The candidates should occasionally be required to help restrain/reposition/move/lift up to 30 lbs. and push/pull with medium force
- The candidates may require frequent sitting to educate IENs and staff, perform clinical procedures, demonstrate equipment handling, and document information on the computer
- The candidates should engage in occasional walking or standing to deliver presentations or conduct simulations
- The candidates should regularly perform fine finger/precision work for machine operation and computer documentation
- The candidates should review and interpret patient test results, administer medication, and observe the patient’s condition by applying visual concentration
- The candidates should listen to and communicate with staff and patients/family members during education/counseling by applying auditory concentration
- The candidates should check patients for changes in temperature, palpate pulses, and perform tests/procedures such as blood pressure or vital signs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a current and continuing practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
- The candidates should have previous experience in adult education and current in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- The candidates should demonstrate proficiency with Meditech and Microsoft Office and possess strong clinical knowledge and a comprehensive medical background
- The candidates should demonstrate strong clinical and patient education skills and have demonstrated progressive leadership and have a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
- The candidates should exhibit organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills with attention to detail and showcase effective oral and written communication skills
- The candidates should display strong collaboration skills and the ability to create and maintain successful working relationships
- The candidates should have the ability to self-direct and work independently and collaboratively with clinic team members
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work in an acute setting to develop the clinical onboarding and integration process for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs), including orientation, preceptorship, and mentorship
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with educators in acute and long-term care programs to further refine orientation for all IENs
- The candidates should be able to provide clinical leadership in evidence-based practice to IENs through orientation, simulation, continuing education, and facilitation/support during preceptorship/mentorship periods
- The candidates should be able to mentor IENs with client assessments using the Meditech Electronic Documentation System, particularly for assessment and monitoring of acute and chronic disease management (e.g., assessment, investigation, follow-up, and evaluation)
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with members of the interprofessional team, develop, implement, and revise orientation and professional development programs for IENs based on identified learning needs, practice outcomes, education program effectiveness, and best practices to ensure effective integration in the clinical environment
- The candidates should be able to facilitate with clinical unit managers and staff in the process of orientation, preceptorship, and mentorship to support the learning needs of IENs
- The candidates should be able to provide visible clinical and professional leadership, acting as a role model for staff to support the integration strategy for IENs
