Through partnerships and awareness programs, it ensures a stable and reliable blood supply for patients in need. Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, which are based on operational and be aware that shift lengths vary depending on events taking place at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers
- The candidates should be available for shifts that include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidates should be willing to travel for mobile events in communities, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidates should meet the physical requirements of the role, including the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed an accredited training program in phlebotomy and be aware that an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- The candidates should have previous knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook and proficiency in a second language, as it is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to conduct registration and confidential screening to determine donor eligibility while promoting a positive donor experience
- The candidates should be able to utilize excellent customer service skills to monitor donors for safety and comfort, provide post-donation care, and respect donor privacy
- The candidates should be able to follow procedures to ensure the safe processing and handling of blood products
- The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with others and assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components
- The candidates should be able to assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment at mobile donor events to ensure clinics are properly prepared for use
