Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in construction, mining, or operating heavy machinery
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to work nights, overtime, and weekends, good written and oral communication skills, demonstrate dependability by following instructions and responding to supervisor direction
- The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varied temperatures and weather conditions
- The candidates should be available to work nights, overtime, and weekends, be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces, basic welding and fitting skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- The candidates should demonstrate mechanical aptitude, possess a valid Class G driver’s license
- The candidates should be prepared to participate in an assessment that evaluates their ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to comply with all Ministry of Labour Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, including wearing all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment
- The candidates should be able to strictly follow Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies, and procedures, and report all incidents, near misses, and safety hazards to their supervisor
- The candidates should be able to follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and demonstrate awareness of the Emergency Response Plan
- The candidates should be able to work effectively in a team environment with co-workers, supervisors, and managers
- The candidates should be able to operate various pieces of fixed and mobile equipment to meet production and shipping requirements
- The candidates should be able to complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools, while working safely around moving and rotating equipment using the required safety gear
- The candidates should be able to perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment in accordance with training and direction
- The candidates should be able to complete scheduled maintenance inspections and lubrication of plant equipment using appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
- The candidates should be able to repair broken or malfunctioning equipment and promptly inform the Supervisor of any issues affecting their work
- The candidates should be able to remain aware of environmentally sensitive areas and take corrective action when environmental issues arise, adapt to varying job duties that may change from day to day based on business
