Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in construction, mining, or operating heavy machinery
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to work nights, overtime, and weekends, good written and oral communication skills
- The candidates should be dependable, follow instructions, and respond to supervisor direction
- The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varied temperatures and weather conditions
- The candidates should be able to work at heights and in confined spaces, participate in an assessment evaluating their ability to perform essential job functions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have basic welding and fitting skills, possess an Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- The candidates should demonstrate mechanical aptitude and hold a valid Class G driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to comply with all MoL OH&S Acts and Regulations and wear all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment, strictly adhere to Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies, and procedures
- The candidates should be able to report all incidents, near misses, and safety hazards to the supervisor, follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and be aware of the emergency response plan
- The candidates should be able to work in a team environment with co-workers, supervisors, and managers, operate various fixed and mobile equipment to meet production and shipping requirements
- The candidates should be able to complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools while working safely around moving and rotating equipment
- The candidates should be able to perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed
- The candidates should be able to complete scheduled maintenance inspections and lubrication of plant equipment following job plans, procedures, and manuals
- The candidates should be able to repair broken or malfunctioning equipment, keep the Supervisor informed of any problems affecting assigned work
- The candidates should be able to identify environmentally sensitive areas and address environmental issues that may develop in the assigned work area, adapt to varying job duties depending on business
