Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber or plumbing contractor
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be capable of walking, lifting, using ladders, and performing physical labour, including working outdoors in all weather conditions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should hold certification as a Qualified Plumber by the Province of B.C. or an out-of-province equivalent, an equivalent combination of training and experience
- The candidates should have successfully completed Level 1 certification from the Plumbing Officials Association of B.C. or be willing to obtain it within 30 months from the date of hire as a condition of employment
- The candidates should possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for business purposes, Cross Connection Control Certification
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to check plumbing plans, confirm testing of plumbing systems, and inspect all types of plumbing installations for conformance with bylaws, regulations, and codes
- The candidates should be able to review site services to ensure compliance with relevant standards
- The candidates should be able to observe tests of plumbing systems and complete inspections of all types of plumbing installations in accordance with by-laws, regulations, codes, and approved plumbing permit drawings
- The candidates should be able to provide technical advice, assistance, interpretation, and information to the general public, owners, contractors, engineers, and architects on matters related to plumbing inspections
- The candidates should be able to write correspondence and reports regarding inspection results, complaints, and investigations
- The candidates should be able to use excellent customer service skills to create positive experiences for residents throughout the inspection process and perform other assigned duties
