Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of teaching experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to build, program, and troubleshoot embedded and microcontroller systems and construct, test, and troubleshoot analog and digital circuits

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an advanced diploma (3 years) in electrical engineering, a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline/field, a P.Eng designation, a graduate degree, an Ontario College Graduate Certificate, a CET designation in an electrical discipline, or a Certificate of Qualification in an electrical skilled trade
  • The candidates should have a minimum of five years of practical experience related to the field of study and a strong understanding of industrial telecommunications and electrical principles
  • The candidates should have experience in the operation and use of lab test equipment, including digital scopes and spectrum analyzers
  • The candidates should have experience in applying engineering to real-world problems in building electrical systems, telecommunications and data networking, or related fields such as equipment suppliers and specialist consultants and demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting
  • The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies, with experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum
  • The candidates should have demonstrated provision of academic leadership, including guiding colleagues and instructors, participating in curriculum development or program renewal, improving instructional quality, and serving as a program coordinator, academic advisor, or curriculum administrator

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to consult with program and course administrators, faculty members, advisory committees, potential employers, and students to enhance curriculum development and program effectiveness
  • The candidates should be able to define learning outcomes and evaluate their effectiveness to ensure they align with industry standards and academic expectations
  • The candidates should be able to specify and approve appropriate learning approaches, instructional methods, and necessary resources for course delivery
  • The candidates should be able to incorporate educational technologies to meet the evolving learning needs of 21st-century students
  • The candidates should be able to review and revise curriculum while participating in professional development activities during non-teaching periods
  • The candidates should be able to deliver regularly scheduled instruction during Fall, Winter, or Summer terms within their home department or across departments
  • The candidates should be able to ensure students are aware of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques
  • The candidates should be able to provide tutoring and academic advising for students both in and out of class to support their learning
  • The candidates should be able to create a learning environment that effectively utilizes available resources, including educational technologies
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate student progress and take responsibility for assessing student work within assigned courses and develop and maintain a learning environment that fosters student success
