Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of secondary school education
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with various age groups, with familiarity with municipal recreation departments
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should perform physical duties of the job, including standing and walking for prolonged periods, lifting, and moving equipment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have an equivalent qualification six months of experience in community programming, child care, or a recreational setting
- The candidates should demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work cooperatively, efficiently, and effectively with co-workers, customers, and user groups
- The candidates should communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assist with monitoring and delivering recreation and community programs for all age groups, including sports, fitness, and leisure activities
- The candidates should be able to plan, prepare, and lead engaging arts and crafts, games, drama, and reading-based programs for children, youth, and seniors
- The candidates should be able to create an enjoyable experience for participants while serving as a positive role model for both attendees and staff
- The candidates should be able to provide basic instruction and ensure participants behave in a safe and cooperative manner during activities
- The candidates should be able to maintain and clean program supplies, including craft materials, games, and toys
- The candidates should be able to deliver excellent customer service through direct interactions and engagement with program participants and set up and take down equipment and supplies required for activities
- The candidates should be able to ensure that facilities and resources are properly maintained and ready for use
- The candidates should be able to maintain a clean, safe environment and report any safety hazards or damaged equipment and collaborate with City staff and partners to ensure successful program delivery and assist with evaluations
- The candidates should be able to assess and respond to incidents, problems, and emergencies in accordance with policies and procedures and document routine activity summaries and incident reports and perform other duties
