City of Calgary’s Real Estate and Development Services department manages property assets and development projects. It facilitates land acquisition, leasing, and development approvals. By facilitating strategic real estate transactions, the department supports Calgary’s economic vitality and urban planning initiatives. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a degree in Business, Management, Commerce, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in at least three of the following areas: business analysis, business process improvement, strategy, policy and program development, risk management, performance measurement, information technology, change management, project management, or related experience
  • The candidates should possess experience in real estate, land development, business planning, organizational dynamics, bylaw and policy development, and implementing technology efficiencies
  • The candidates should have experience in using Microsoft Dynamics CRM software
  • The candidates should possess strong critical thinking, innovation, facilitation, and research skills, along with the ability to find creative approaches to solve complex issues

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to manage Real Estate and Development Services’ (RE&DS) change initiatives to ensure user adoption is maximized on changes to business processes, systems, and technology
  • The candidates should be able to support project and change leadership for strategic initiatives and direct multiple change initiatives within RE&DS and with partners and able to support leaders in their role as change sponsors and assist staff in adopting and sustaining necessary changes for operational effectiveness
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement change management strategies and plans, aligning these with project charters and integrating change activities into project plans and able to facilitate the development of change management strategies, including designing project communications plans, sponsor roadmaps, coaching plans, training plans, and resistance management plans
  • The candidates should be able to initiate and direct the implementation of transformational change management tactics, including gaining buy-in from interested parties, coaching leaders and change champions, and supporting staff in transitioning to the future state to achieve critical business goals and objectives
  • The candidates should be able to direct and manage the design and implementation of new policies, procedures, processes, systems, standards, tools, structures, and behaviors that improve organizational effectiveness and support effective decision-making at a management level for RE&DS
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with a program team, leaders in RE&DS, and cross-corporate Business Units on strategic initiatives to position them for success and able to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of RE&DS Land System Realignment Program and support the delivery of the program
  • The candidates should be able to support RE&DS in strategic planning and other business management projects, providing research and decision support to senior management on key issues affecting the business and environmental readiness for improved performance
  • The candidates should be able to identify and evaluate existing business structures, workflows, processes, drivers, problems, legislation, policies, environmental constraints, tools, and opportunities for process improvements that align with strategic objectives
  • The candidates should be able to track and report issues, define and measure success metrics, and monitor change progress
  • The candidates should be able to represent Real Estate and Development Services on corporate initiatives and policy committees and participate in the development of a continuous improvement and project management excellence culture
