Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certification at the HealthCare Provider Level
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour
- The candidates should be self-directed team players who are highly organized with excellent critical thinking skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have medication administration certification or completion of an RPN education preparation program that includes medication administration
- The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop the Nurse-Client therapeutic relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team
- The candidates should have completed a College program and possess recent and strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and addiction issues
- The candidates should have proficient computer literacy, bilingualism (French and English) and proficiency in a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to respond to client care needs using a safe, respectful, and dignified approach, ensure the safety and security of the client care environment
- The candidates should be able to practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards, the CAMH Practice Model of Care, CAMH policies and procedures, and other relevant legislation and regulations
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with the care team using a primary nursing model to perform ongoing clinical assessments and utilize evidence-based interventions
- The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and evaluate inter-professional care plans to address multiple healthcare priorities, apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service skills in care and service delivery
- The candidates should be able to work with patients from diverse backgrounds, contribute to program development, and provide educational support and supervision to students
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of severe and persistent mental illness, schizophrenia, addictions, crisis intervention, recovery models, and therapeutic groups
- The candidates should be able to make behavioral observations, conduct assessments (including mental status and physical exams), and monitor and evaluate patient responses to pharmaceutical and other care interventions
- The candidates should be able to document clearly and communicate consistently and promptly with other team members
- The candidates should be able to support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, promotes learning, and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements
