Salary: $16.00 hourly for 37 to 40 hours per week + 2% commission per sale Minimum wage is guaranteed
Employment Type: Seasonal employment Full time
Location: Red Deer, AB
Shifts: Day, Weekend, To be determined
Transportation information: Own transportation, and valid driver’s licence
Work setting: Retail business, furniture store, home decor, and retail or wholesale furniture store
Supervision: Retail salespersons and sales clerks

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Sales and marketing promotions
Type of product: Furniture and house furnishings
Computer and technology knowledge: MS Excel, point of sale system, MS Outlook, social media, and Microsoft Publisher
Exhibit and display design experience: Merchandising or window, and visual displays 
Security and safety: Bondable

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is crucial for the tasks involved
  • The candidates should possess the ability to distinguish between colors accurately, and the job may require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be capable of handling weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs) as part of their responsibilities

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate a cash register, computerized inventory record-keeping, and re-ordering systems, and provide advice about merchandise
  • The candidates should be able to advertise and/or promote products, sales, or services, perform data entry, and provide customer service with professionalism
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the display of merchandise, conduct sales transactions through Internet-based electronic commerce, and estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates
  • The candidates should be able to greet customers, discuss the type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental, or lease, maintain sales records for inventory control, prepare merchandise for purchase, rental, or lease, and prepare sales, rental, or leasing contracts, and accept cash, cheque, credit card, or automatic debit payment
  • The candidates should be able to perform opening and closing activities and have a background in general interior design
