Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a one-year secretarial or commercial course
Experience: Candidates should have three years of secretarial experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available for a permanent 80% schedule, working four days a week, seven hours per day
  • The candidates should be willing to work overtime on occasion and be comfortable working in an office setting most of the time
  • The candidates should be able to perform light physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting light-weight objects, with intermittent periods of keyboarding
  • The candidates should be able to concentrate on various sensory inputs for intermediate durations, requiring close attention several times daily
  • The candidates should be able to handle periods of pressure to meet deadlines, and work requiring accuracy, repetitious tasks, and occasional disruption of personal life due to work schedules or the need to travel

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be proficient in typing, word processing, and other standard computer applications
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Justice Enterprise Information Network (JEIN), court procedures, and correctional services
  • The candidates should exercise sound judgment, initiative, and tact in dealing with diverse individuals
  • The candidates should possess strong organizational skills and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role
  • The candidates should have the ability to multitask and deal with changing priorities to keep the team on track

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support daily operations by editing confidential investigative reports, evaluations, correspondence, file documentation, court documents, and forms, often from dicta-phone or digital recordings
  • The candidates should be able to provide telephone and reception services, maintaining ongoing contact with representatives of the Court, Public Prosecution, Policing Services, and community partners
  • The candidates should be able to manage disbursements related to financial matters, including sorting and distributing mail, managing supplies and inventory, and handling statistical submissions
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with continuously evolving demands and strict deadlines
