Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Experience: Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience in the industrial bulk material handling industry
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be think analytically and make accurate and timely decisions and be highly organized with excellent time management skills
- The candidates should be exercise good judgment, initiative, and a strong work ethic and strong team players of upstanding character
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a Registered P.Eng. or eligible for registration as a P.Eng in any Canadian province other than Quebec and , including responsibility for equipment design specific to conveying systems (elevators, belts, screws, chains)
- The candidates should have excellent communicators, both verbal and written, with internal and external stakeholders, have strong skills in numerical tools such as Excel and Mathcad or similar
- The candidates should have working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD and be work independently or as part of a team
- The candidates should have demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in a fabricated equipment environment, with a propensity for machine design
- The candidates should have own personal development and gain an understanding of the equipment manufactured, how it is produced, and why designs are made in a specific way
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work independently within established design procedures, equipment portfolios, internal design guides, and tools to produce calculations and develop project-specific equipment designs or configurations that meet customer requirements
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate specific industry experience in bulk material handling, including designing conveying solutions such as elevators, belt conveyors, chain conveyors, screws, and accessory items
- The candidates should be able to produce or oversee the creation and validation of approval drawings and obtain approval through interaction with customers and engage other engineering resources within AGI for peer review and design support when appropriate or as required by internal policy and create and update engineering calculation tools while ensuring a secondary review by a fellow Application Engineer
- The candidates should be able to support the quoting team to ensure the appropriate equipment is quoted for the correct application, interface with other engineers within AGI for support and feedback and self-assign projects based on resource availability
- The candidates should be able to critically read customer specifications, identify inconsistencies, suggest improvements, and verify the integrity of quoted and ordered items to align with client expectations
- The candidates should be able to verify the technical soundness of quoted solutions before initiating design work and track changes in equipment designs during the approval process and assess cost impacts to support the change order process
- The candidates should be able to resolve client or sales team questions that arise during the design phase and keep all relevant parties informed about work status, workload, challenges, and progress on assigned tasks, delegate and review drawings created by Application and review “Issued for Fabrication” drawings from the Production Engineering team to ensure alignment with customer expectations and overall design intentions
- The candidates should be able to manage application-related document control, including updates to material handling spreadsheets and approval drawing revisions and provide warranty support for application-related issues by offering technical advice to the Service Manager
- The candidates should be able to travel to job sites or AGI manufacturing centers and assist engineering leadership in developing and implementing department processes and procedures, train and mentor junior engineering staff, voice departmental needs, challenges, and roadblocks while maintaining a continuous improvement mindset and coach, mentor, and provide leadership within engineering groups, develop application-related documents and tools and perform other duties
