Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have two years of directly experience in commercial landscape and horticulture
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should lift and move heavy equipment and materials occasionally and maintain short periods of intense concentration while operating equipment occasionally
- The candidates should work under normal working conditions and tolerate exposure to dust, jarring, and equipment noise and vibration occasionally and work outside in all weather conditions continuously
- The candidates should work in an environment where protective measures must be taken to avoid exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, and biohazards occasionally
- The candidates should tolerate exposure to traffic occasionally and understand and carry out job-related instructions
- The candidates should operate a variety of industrial-rated equipment and vehicles and repair and perform routine maintenance on equipment
- The candidates should establish and maintain effective working relationships, deal effectively with the public and outside agencies and work safely on job sites

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to mow, trim, weed, dig, rake, and remove refuse and debris and prepare, plant, and maintain flower and shrub beds, landscapes, boulevards, turf, sports fields, and young trees
- The candidates should be able to construct and maintain pathways, hard infrastructure, playgrounds, irrigation, furniture, playground equipment, and ponds and streams and maintain cemetery grounds and assist with interments
- The candidates should be able to grind stumps, chip brush, and perform light pruning under direct supervision and water trees, baskets, turf, and various garden landscapes and maintain tree wells, tree grates, and tree guards
- The candidates should be able to flag and direct traffic around equipment and operations and in public laneways and collect data for updating inventory and data collection apps and record accurate daily equipment logs, material slips, time sheets, and tree watering or maintenance records
- The candidates should be able to provide instructions and information to other staff and respond to general inquiries from the public and other departments regarding park maintenance and conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and perform minor maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment
