Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a three-year college program in a related discipline in marketing, business, interactive multimedia development, social media, public relations, or communications
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of related work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or social media content creation/management

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a minimum of three years of direct experience in multimedia and video production and have experience in creating, writing, editing, and producing social media and communications material to support communication and marketing team activities
  • The candidates should have specific experience in developing content, monitoring, and analyzing the effectiveness of digital communication platforms and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Instagram
  • The candidates should have experience in narrative development and visual storytelling to communicate simple and/or complex messaging and should possess superior project management and planning skills, understanding critical paths, setting priorities, and meeting timelines
  • The candidates should have a commitment to innovation and adoption of new technologies and applications that will enhance the online experience aligning with Carleton’s strategic goals
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and have superior organizational skills and a thorough attention to detail
  • The candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and exhibit strong professionalism, tact, and diplomacy
  • The candidates should have a strong client service ethic and high expectation for quality and possess strong problem-solving skills and be adept with flexibility and adaptation
  • The candidates should be creative thinkers with self-motivation and the ability to take initiative and should be effective working in a team and independently

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain and enhance Carleton University social media platforms through the creation of original interactive social media-focused content, primarily utilizing compelling multimedia such as video and audio
  • The candidates should be able to strategically plan and curate content for web, digital, and social media platforms, including videos, photos, polls, profile highlights, and promotional materials
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the department of University Communications has current and captivating content by curating digital viewbooks, podcasts, magazines, and other recruitment and retention material
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of Carleton University’s Reputation Enhancement Project, its unique character, objectives, and wider identity and priorities
  • The candidates should be able to support reporting and analytics for social media platforms, focusing on the growth and sustainability of flagship social media accounts
  • The candidates should be able to provide social media best practices, training, and guidance to members of the university communication network to promote content on primary social media accounts such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
