Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a Master of Social Work degree
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years of post-graduate work experience in a health care facility

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to build, foster, and maintain collaborative relationships effectively within an interprofessional clinical teaching environment
  • The candidates should be proficient with computers and electronic health records to ensure data requirements are met
  • The candidates should demonstrate the capacity to work effectively with clients from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should ideally have experience working with individuals facing mental health and addiction issues and those from refugee, newcomer, or diverse populations
  • The candidates should be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • The candidates should have expertise in assessing and providing psychosocial support and treatment to clients with complex mental health concerns, utilizing adapted evidence-based approaches
  • The candidates should have experience working independently with minimal supervision and appreciate program and system-level issues affecting refugee populations
  • The candidates should ideally have experience negotiating service systems, providing adult education, working with clients through life transitions, and delivering brief therapies
  • The candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • The candidates should ideally be bilingual (French and English) or proficient in a second language, particularly Arabic

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with settlement partners and community health services to develop mental health resources tailored to refugees, enhancing support for both agency staff and clients
  • The candidates should be able to create and deliver workshops in partnership with community organizations to build capacity among provincial service providers working with clients experiencing or at risk of mental health conditions
  • The candidates should be able to provide consultation, assessment, treatment, and psychosocial support to clients referred to the clinic, ensuring comprehensive mental health care
  • The candidates should be able to guide clients through the healthcare and support system, facilitating coordinated care and improving their overall integration
  • The candidates should be able to triage, conduct mental health assessments, and deliver evidence-based individual and group treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, within a trauma-informed framework
