Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have previous front-line, customer, client service work experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate sensitivity to a diverse student population and be reliable, dedicated, responsible, and professional
- The candidates should have the ability to show initiative and strong problem-solving skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have strong verbal and written English communication skills, with other languages, proficient in various software platforms, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Internet research
- The candidates should have a firm understanding of the Student Learning Centre and Algonquin College services, be eligible for the College Student Employment Program (CSEP)
- The candidates should not be enrolled in Second Career, Apprenticeship Programs, International student programs, Algonquin College employee tuition-reduced programs, or collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University, or any non-Ministry-approved programs
- The candidates should be Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, or Protected Persons/Convention Refugees under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) before the application deadline
- The candidates should demonstrate financial need by successfully applying for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to staff the in-person SLC Kiosk on the DARE 2nd floor, assisting with a wide range of directional inquiries
- The candidates should be able to greet and assist students and clients at the SLC Kiosk, provide information to peer tutors, coaches, and other stakeholders
- The candidates should be able to assist students with the DARE District meeting room booking system
- The candidates should be able to deliver information in an approachable, trustworthy, and welcoming manner, monitor and respond to email, phone, and in-person inquiries
- The candidates should be able to regularly read internal communications to stay informed about position-related information
- The candidates should be able to provide feedback, ideas, or initiatives to improve SLC processes and procedures for greater efficiency and user-friendliness
