Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health based in Kinngait, NU is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Supervisor, home and community care. Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health oversees healthcare services and programs in the territory. It provides medical care, public health initiatives, and health education to Nunavut residents. Through its efforts, it addresses healthcare challenges and contributes to the overall well-being of Nunavummiut, supporting healthier communities across the territory. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have five (5) years of nursing experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience and one (1) year of related experience in home and community care
  • The candidates should be graduates from the Nunavut Arctic College Nursing Program, who passed the NCLEX exam, and are enrolled in Nunavut’s Graduate Nursing Residency Program
  • The candidates should be eligible to register with CANNN and should possess a valid driver’s license
  • The candidates should be aware that this is a Highly Sensitive Position, and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, is required
  • The candidates should have Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide nursing care and support services to the general population throughout the life cycle to enable them to stay in their homes and promote an optimal level of functioning in activities of daily living
  • The candidates should be able to assess the status of clients admitted to the Home and Community Care Program and develop, modify, and implement client care plans based on assessed needs and prescribed medical regimes
  • The candidates should be able to supervise, train, and manage Home and Community Care staff in assigned communities, ensuring adherence to care plans and quality standards
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with the Supervisor of Health Programs (SHP), Community Health Nurses (CHN), and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care for clients
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and maintain a positive and supportive work environment for staff

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance $24,192-$26,437 per year
