Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of post-secondary
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED), or equivalent experience in lieu of a High School diploma
- The candidates should have at least 2 years of experience working within a unionized environment
- The candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including understanding the major features of each software application and possess a degree or diploma
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to supervise the daily operation of a mail delivery team to ensure the safe and efficient sortation, routing, and delivery of mail in accordance with regulations, procedures, and instructions
- The candidates should be able to supervise the processing of all classes of mail in a postal facility, setting daily priorities to meet deadlines and service commitments
- The candidates should be able to monitor and follow up on delivery and scanning exceptions, liaising with other operational functions to ensure the efficient movement of mail
- The candidates should be able to promote and implement workplace safety and health programs, coaching employees on safe work practices to reduce accident frequency and severity and conduct investigations, report and follow up on accident incidences, and address health and safety issues promptly, participating as needed in the local health and safety committee
- The candidates should be able to oversee the return-to-work and accommodation processes for employees unable to perform the full range of their duties and supervise, coach, and provide guidance and leadership to employees, promoting a respectful work environment and handling human resources processes such as staffing, performance, and attendance management
- The candidates should be able to resolve staff issues, including disciplinary action when required, consulting with Labour Relations or union representatives on the collective agreement and estimate workloads, arrange adequate staffing, and recommend or authorize overtime as necessary based on fluctuating mail volume
- The candidates should be able to assign staff to different operational areas and request additional equipment or services and evaluate operational methods and procedures, recommend improvements to optimize efficiency, and implement changes while communicating with support groups
- The candidates should be able to conduct daily observations of employee productivity, investigate abnormalities, and work on improving performance by implementing best practices and analyze daily productivity reports to identify problems and trends, sharing results with the team to foster improvement
- The candidates should be able to maintain administrative records on mail volumes, employee time and leave in SAP, and perform other administrative tasks related to the operation of the shift and promote good relations with external stakeholders, such as bargaining unit representatives, contractors, customers, and the general public
