Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of university degree in Technical Theatre,
Experience: Candidates should have coupled with three years of related experience in a road house environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have a passion for the performing arts in a fast-paced environment, with a background in technical theatre and be familiar with a live performance environment and the ability to work as part of a team
- The candidates should provide a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days, as a condition of employment if they are new hires or have not previously performed in this position
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a two-year college diploma An equivalent combination of education and experience
- The candidates should be skilled in lighting design, light board operation (proficiency in programming Grand MA consoles is required), audio engineering (proficiency with DiGiCo SD consoles is required), set construction, carpentry, rigging, stage management, training, and working with community volunteer crews
- The candidates should possess Scissor Lift training, Working at Heights certification, and First Aid/CPR certification
- The candidates should successfully complete the Natural Resources Canada – Pyrotechnic Card – Theatrical within 12 months of hire
- The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- The candidates should have advanced problem-solving skills, job estimation skills, resourcefulness, and the initiative to perform at a high standard with little supervisio and proven communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to set up and operate DiGiCo SD consoles and other mixing consoles, install microphones, effects and dynamics processing, playback devices, amplifiers, and speaker systems for events at the Oakville Centre and other necessary venues
- The candidates should be able to troubleshoot, operate, and mix sound for various events, including theatre, musical theatre, spoken word, amplified music concerts, and dance performances and set up, troubleshoot, and operate video projection systems and program and operate audio playback systems such as QLab for theatrical use
- The candidates should be able to program and operate GrandMA lighting control systems to create effective lighting for dance, theatre, musical theatre, and concerts
- The candidates should be able to hang, circuit, color, and focus conventional and moving lights, as well as program and operate lighting consoles
- The candidates should be able to troubleshoot and maintain conventional, automated, and set up scenery and staging for all types of events, repair scenic elements, rig flying scenery, and operate a single purchase fly system
- The candidates should be able to perform scene changes for various types of productions and provide limited supervision of events in the Oakville Centre Studio Theatre by overseeing clients, crew, and all technical aspects of those events
