Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of certification in AQX, CALA, WaterArt (Speedo), ATRI, or AEA
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should present a satisfactory criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days, prior to commencing the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to start the class at the advertised start time and finish within the allotted time
  • The candidates should be able to lead the designated class in a professional manner and create a safe, enjoyable climate
  • The candidates should be able to plan and implement an aquatic exercise class that meets the needs of all participants while following recommended industry standards
  • The candidates should be able to provide group exercise instruction and supervision while ensuring the safety of all participants, including allowing participants to work at their own pace, monitoring heart rates, and offering modifications for physical limitations
  • The candidates should be able to maintain excellent customer service when dealing with all customers and provide information only within their area of expertise
  • The candidates should be able to follow appropriate channels of communication when dealing with staff and the public, ensuring that concerns or information affecting program quality and safety are forwarded to the Deck Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator in a timely manner
  • The candidates should be able to attend all staff training and meetings relevant to the position and perform other duties
  • The candidates should be able to read, understand, and abide by all Town and department standards, corporate policies and procedures, including Human Resource policies, emergency procedures, fire plans, health and safety procedures, and WHMIS, and respond appropriately to all situations
