Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post-secondary degree or diploma in a wireless telecommunication field or an equivalent combination of education and/or related experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience configuring and provisioning mobile devices in Mobile Device Management Servers using AirWatch

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to travel within the City of Toronto as required

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have extensive hands-on technical Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and programming mobile telecommunication devices such as smartphones, hot spot modems, voice, and other handheld mobile devices in a large diverse client-driven environment
  • The candidates should possess customer service experience in a client-focused environment, with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and should have knowledge of Windows 10, Excel 2013, Outlook 2013, and Word 2013
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of ServiceNow and Active Directory and have knowledge of I&T-related policies, including Acceptable Use Policy and Mobile Device Policy
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of the Apple iTunes Store and Google Account and have the ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment
  • The candidates should exhibit strong problem-solving skills and should demonstrate a proven commitment to customer service, performance quality, and continuous improvement
  • The candidates should have excellent communication skills and should possess the ability to develop and communicate technical documentation, standards, procedures, and preventative maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to interact with all levels of staff to facilitate training, monitoring, and resolution reporting

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform corporate-wide user administration, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and control for existing and new features, services, and telecommunications equipment, covering physical setup, database administration, and inventory controls
  • The candidates should be able to ensure proactive action is taken in the operation, installation, and support of the City’s telecommunications systems, solutions, and services and able to provide assistance and technical support in the system review process, including planning, assessment, design, and documentation of telecommunication systems for existing systems, upgrades, and enhancements
  • The candidates should be able to undertake reviews of services, including hardware/software identification for inventory and analysis of cost data, including the review of multiple vendor service offerings
  • The candidates should be able to provide first-level technical support for mobile telecommunication devices to users, including Senior Management, Council, and Operational staff, and provide second and third-level technical support to ServiceDesk and Client Side Support
  • The candidates should be able to monitor Mobile Device Management infrastructure, execute health checks, conduct maintenance, apply patches, and upgrade system versions to ensure critical devices remain operational, and liaise with Mobile Device Management and other IT teams for resolution of mobile service outages
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with vendors for mobile telecommunication trouble tickets, enhancements, hardware, and software upgrades, and participate in the development of security policies and encryption measures
  • The candidates should be able to respond to cross-divisional user inquiries, investigate and analyze problems, develop solutions and/or action plans regarding telecommunications issues, and liaise with vendors to purchase and maintain services/equipment, including preparation of cost/benefit analysis
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records of telecommunications accounts/numbers and equipment inventories, prepare activity reports, usage review/analysis, and review requests for mobile telecommunication device services with clients, advising on the most suitable options
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate with internal groups and the vendor to meet all client-requested due dates, validate enterprise-wide wireless invoices for processing by Accounts Payable, and assist in the development and evaluation of RFP/Q/I for wireless services
  • The candidates should be able to provide technical consulting services to other Divisions on how wireless services can improve delivery of their programs, prepare and issue work orders to service providers, vendors, and value-added resellers, and schedule work with service provider technical staff
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the measurement of traffic volumes and detailed usage using industry-standard analysis methods, liaise with departmental and divisional staff regarding telecommunications equipment, solutions, and services, and deliver training for City staff
