Native Counselling Services of Alberta based in Edmonton, AB is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Youth worker. Native Counselling Services of Alberta is dedicated to providing culturally sensitive and holistic support services to indigenous individuals, families, and communities throughout Alberta. We operate with a mission to promote and enhance the well-being and self-sufficiency of indigenous people by providing culturally appropriate services rooted in traditional indigenous values and practices. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $47,500 annually 35 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Edmonton, AB
Shifts: Day, To be determined
Transportation information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Travel expenses paid by employer
Work setting: Urban area
Supervision: 5-10 people
Target audience: Adolescents, Females, Males

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Credentials: First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child welfare check, Driving record check (abstract)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to work in tight deadlines

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be accurate, client focus, dependable, organized, initiative, flexible, reliable, and judgmental
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, efficient interpersonal skills, interpersonal awareness, and be able to work as a team player
  • The candidate should have values and ethics

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to obtain information and prepare reports or case histories
  • The candidates should be able to administrative and office activities, assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, assist clients/guests with special needs
  • The candidates should be able to accompany clients to appointments and social outings
