Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 4 years of experience in administrative support, customer and client service
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have comfort with working as part of a team in a computer based environment
- The candidates should provide daily operational support, advice, and guidance to NRR staff as the Corporate Support Services Clerk
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be open to considering an equivalent combination of training and experience
- The candidates should possess the ability to communicate accurately and effectively using tact and diplomacy when dealing with staff at all levels to address requests for information and assistance
- The candidates should demonstrate sound analytical and decision-making skills, capable of analyzing problems and exercising sound judgment
- The candidates should have in depth knowledge of policies and procedures related to areas such as procurement of goods and asset management
- The candidates should be aware that qualifications and competencies will be assessed using one or more of the following tools written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks
- The candidates should be able to maintain a list of Branch information technology hardware and refresh the list to ensure hardware is replaced within the recommended timeframe
- The candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of policies and procedures related to procurement of goods and services, security, facilities and asset management, information technology and telecommunications
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform standard and non-routine administrative tasks in the delivery of facilities and support services
- The candidates should be able to work with the Manager of Corporate Support Services to ensure the functionality, comfort, and efficiency of office space
- The candidates should be able to process invoices and financial documents such as journal vouchers and cheque requisitions
- The candidates should be able to perform duties related to the Occupational Health and Safety Program (OH and S)
- The candidates should be able to play a key role in office security and maintain an accurate inventory of facility access cards
- The candidates should be able to maintain inventory of Head Office assets on the government’s computerized inventory system (Archibus)
- The candidates should be able to recognize that Nova Scotia is rich in natural resources, including biodiversity forests, geological resources, provincial parks and managed land
- The candidates should be able to understand that the Department of Natural Resources (NRR) is tasked with the development, management, conservation, and protection of the province’s forest, wildlife, mineral and energy resources
