Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of four years experience in transportation or parking for a municipality

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • The candidates should be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
  • The candidates should have project management experience within civil infrastructure, which is a strong plus
  • The candidates should possess sound knowledge of practices, design principles, theories, and best practices related to parking programs and exhibit strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare and manage project and program budgets
  • The candidates should have knowledge of project management methodologies, practices, processes, and policies and demonstrate excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage staff
  • The candidates should possess strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize actions in response to numerous and diverse demands
  • The candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to speak and make presentations to stakeholders and the public
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain positive, productive relationships at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and interpret complex engineering plans and specifications and proficient in preparing technical presentations and reports on complex design issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and make recommendations on policies and projects and proficient in the use of various software applications and exercise diplomacy and tact in various situations

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to supervise a team of technical staff in the management of commercial on-street parking programs, including pay parking, car sharing, ride hailing, and passenger, loading, taxi, tour bus, and disability zones
  • The candidates should be able to design, review, and accept signage and paint plans for curbside regulations and pay stations
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with various operations branches to coordinate the installation of curbside regulations and pay stations
  • The candidates should be able to review parking impacts due to major construction or transportation projects
  • The candidates should be able to undertake the technical review of existing commercial parking policy and programs and support the development of new policy to support City-wide objectives
  • The candidates should be able to conduct research, analysis, public engagement, and policy development related to commercial parking programs
  • The candidates should be able to respond to requests from the public and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as business improvement associations and transportation companies
