Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BScN)
Experience: Candidates should have specialized clinical experience working with complex youth and their families

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have skills in working effectively in a fast-paced environment, in crisis prevention, and the ability to intervene effectively in situations requiring the support and management of dysregulated behaviors
  • The candidates should be able to work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to apply knowledge of mental health, addiction issues, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care and support clients in goal-setting and attainment
  • The candidates should be registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate
  • The candidates should have preference will be given to RNs with certification in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing from CAN
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling them to develop therapeutic nurse-patient relationships
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds and computer literacy
  • The candidates should ideally be bilingual (French and English) or proficient in a second language
  • The candidates should have offered and accepting employment must complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check, with the offer of employment conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory check

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide client-centered psychiatric, addictions, and general nursing care
  • The candidates should be able to perform admission processes and withdrawal management and conduct client assessments and develop care plans and monitor patient responses to therapies and medications and make behavioral observations and conduct mental status assessments
  • The candidates should be able to implement care plans and administer medications and treatments and support family members through the care process and contribute to unit or program development and support CAMH processes
  • The candidates should be able to implement evidence-based care models like Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and CBT and participate in program evaluation and research activities
  • The candidates should be able to document clinical activities thoroughly and communicate effectively within the team and utilize crisis prevention and intervention strategies
  • The candidates should be able to value self-reflection and engage in continuous learning and collaborate effectively with inter-professional teams and uphold professional conduct and CAMH values as an ambassador
  • The candidates should be able to maintain positive relationships within the unit and with external partners and facilitate client transitions to other services and coordinate care with community agencies
  • The candidates should be able to ensure adherence to security, safety, and nursing practice standards and provide education and supervision to students and volunteers and commit to accountability, critical thinking, and reflective practice
  • The candidates should be able to promote a healthy workplace that embraces diversity and complies with policies and regulations
