Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child and Youth Care
Experience: Candidates should have two or more years of Child Protection experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare, or be in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- The candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field, or a Bachelor’s Degree with a Major or Honors in a Human Services field, or a Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field after completing an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree
- The candidates should have a minimum of one year of related or job-specific work experience
- The candidates should have preferred education credentials and be in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- The candidates should have recent work experience (within the last five years) in Child Protection
- The candidates should have a Child Welfare Specialization from an accredited British Columbia university and have completed their practicum in a child welfare setting
- The candidates should have experience working with Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
- The candidates should be eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- The candidates who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to offer support to Indigenous Nations as they establish their own jurisdiction, playing a crucial role in providing culturally responsive child protection services
- The candidates should be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the communities served
- The candidates should be able to directly impact the development of culturally sensitive and effective child protection services, contributing to meaningful and positive change in communities across British Columbia
- The candidates should be able to play a key part in developing culturally responsive services and gain valuable expertise in important agreements and legislation, advancing their professional growth
