Requirements:

Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in analyzing and reconciling ledger accounts and preparing financial statements
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines effectively and possess the ability to detect, analyze, and resolve problems efficiently
- The candidates should have the ability to plan, organize, and manage work independently while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- The candidates should be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team and the ability to identify and solve problems effectively
- The candidates should have the ability to analyze financial data and prepare detailed summaries, statements, and documentation
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have considerable accounting experience with the or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- The candidates should have considerable experience using the SAP financial system or equivalent financial systems
- The candidates should have considerable experience in the analysis, investigation, and processing of banking-related activities, including bank reconciliations and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- The candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose correspondence, memoranda, and reports requiring specialized knowledge
- The candidates should demonstrate good interpersonal and customer service skills to interact efficiently and diplomatically with staff, clients, and the public, both in person and by telephone
- The candidates should exhibit mathematical skills to calculate recoveries and adjustments accurately
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to review, analyze, and reconcile accounts, ensuring compliance with related legislation, established divisional and corporate policies, procedures, and practices, as well as accounting principles
- The candidates should be able to perform calculations to prepare adjusting entries and statements of account and identify and resolve posting errors
- The candidates should be able to perform and maintain accounts receivable functions, including bank deposits, reconciliations, and preparing, reviewing, posting, and reconciling journal entries, track and monitor incoming cash, cheques, and supporting documents
- The candidates should be able to maintain contact with clients to address inquiries and provide updates, review general ledger recoveries and adjustments and reconcile recoveries
- The candidates should be able to provide financial analysis and other relevant information to the divisions, create and execute ad hoc financial system reports for analysis purposes and assist on special projects and assignments
- The candidates should be able to investigate, analyze, and take corrective action on erroneous accounting transactions and respond to telephone inquiries from City staff, banks, vendors, and other stakeholders
