Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have a High School diploma or equivalency such as GED
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of related experience in appliance service and maintenance
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be individuals who drive to and from worksites and are exposed to poor living conditions and hazards such as filth, slippery surfaces due to ice and water, and verbal and/or physical abuse causing emotionally stressful situations
- The candidates should be individuals comfortable working with electricity, power tools, and frequently required to lift or slide equipment and appliances that weigh up to and over 50 pounds
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be holders of an Appliance Service Technician Journeyperson certification
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending
- The candidates should have excellent communication skills, demonstrated conflict resolution skills, and problem-solving ability
- The candidates should have an enhanced security clearance and undergo a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS)
- The candidates should be individuals required to obtain a City of Calgary operator’s permit
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to resolve day-to-day problems related to appliances, requiring servicing, parts, repairs, installation, maintenance, and inspection
- The candidates should be able to respond to work orders, including troubleshooting appliance-related issues to determine if repairs are feasible and required
- The candidates should be able to provide recommendations for the replacement of appliances/equipment and advise on root causes and other issues observed during site visits that require attention
- The candidates should be able to offer feedback on appliances, installation methods, and repair solutions to continually improve how appliances are sourced and repairs are completed
- The candidates should be able to document, order, pick up, and deliver any parts necessary to complete repairs
- The candidates should be able to ensure that due diligence is taken regarding safety within the unit and building by completing proper inspection and maintenance
