Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have current Lifesaving Society Swim instructors certificate, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a minimum of 15 years of age

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a current National Lifeguard – Pool certification, or have the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire and should possess a current Lifesaving Society Airway Management certification, or have the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should have a current Standard First Aid / CPR C certification from an accredited organization, or have the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire and should demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • The candidates should hold a current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross certification and have a current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors certification, or have the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should possess a current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor and/or Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor certification and have a current Standard First Aid / CPR C certification from an accredited organization, or have the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should possess HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or have the ability to obtain it within 2 months of the date of hire and Current National Lifeguard – Pool or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to supervise participants and maintain complete vigilance to minimize risks, being ready to respond at all times and should be able to ensure participants meet the minimum requirements of the Aquatic Admission Standards during all swims
  • The candidates should be able to ensure proper zone coverage and guard station positioning and able to provide a high level of customer service, including greeting and engaging participants and able to attend meetings and training sessions as required
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with participants regarding swimming lesson opportunities and accident prevention and able to complete administrative duties in a timely manner, such as attendance, incident/accident reports, and opening and closing procedures
  • The candidates should be able to report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to their immediate supervisor for follow-up and take appropriate action and able to maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • The candidates should be able to understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff and able to perform other duties as assigned
  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, and deliver high-quality, safe, and engaging swimming lessons for all levels of participants and able to maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • The candidates should be able to provide a high level of customer service, including greeting and engaging with participants and able to supervise volunteers and participants and ensure their safety at all times
  • The candidates should be able to complete administrative duties in a timely manner, such as attendance, incident/accident reports, and opening and closing procedures and able to maintain a safe and tidy program space, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately
  • The candidates should be able to ensure proper zone coverage and guard station positioning to effectively monitor the swimming area and respond to any emergencies and able to provide a high level of customer service by greeting participants, answering their questions, and addressing any concerns they may have in a courteous and professional manner
