Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut and English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Bachelor of Education degree or an undergraduate degree in a field appropriate to program offerings
Experience: Candidates should have a Master of Education degree or a Master or Doctoral degree in a field appropriate to the NTEP offerings

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should develop and deliver instruction as required to meet learner needs and the standards established by the partner University
  • The candidates should prepare course syllabi, deliver lessons using a variety of instructional strategies (including face-to-face, blended, and/or online), and recommend curriculum revisions
  • The candidates should research, review, and recommend resource materials to implement or enhance the program or courses
  • The candidates should maintain a record of all course outlines and materials used in course/program delivery
  • The candidates should develop and administer materials for learner evaluation, assess learners’ performance of skills, and be willing to travel to other communities for course delivery
  • The candidates should hold a Master of Education degree or a Master or Doctoral degree in a field appropriate to the NTEP offerings
  • The candidates should have three (3) years of teaching experience, with a focus on grades within Kindergarten to Grade Twelve, and training and/or experience in online instruction
  • The candidates should have instructional experience in adult education, experience in teacher education, and the ability to speak more than one of Nunavut’s official languages, considered as assets
  • The candidates should have education and experience in preferred concentrations, including Arts and Music Education, Assessment in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, Educational Psychology, Educational Research, English, Environmental Education, and Indigenous Education
  • The candidates should have education and experience in Indigenous History, Inuit Art, Language and Literacy Education, Language Arts, Math Education, Mathematics, Online and Distance teaching and learning, Physical Education, Psychology, Science Education, Social Justice Education, Social Studies, Sociology, Special Education, STEM Education, and Theory and Practice in Elementary Education

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to take responsibility for the development, delivery, and evaluation of courses and programs for student teachers registered in the College’s Teacher Education initiatives, as assigned by the Manager
  • The candidates should be able to understand that, Program delivery may occur at either a Nunavut Arctic College Campus or at various field locations throughout Nunavut
  • The candidates should be able to contribute towards the Nunavut Teacher Education Program’s objective to graduate culturally competent and bilingual teachers
  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for transmitting content knowledge and teaching methods in the chosen areas of specialties
