Government of Nunavut’s Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) based in Iqaluit, NU is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Claims processing supervisor. Government of Nunavut’s Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) oversees workplace safety and compensation matters within the territory. It administers workers’ compensation programs and promotes occupational health and safety standards. Through regulatory enforcement and education initiatives, the WSCC ensures workplace environments are safe and healthy for employees. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
Experience: Candidates should have 4 years of progressively responsible position in a social program environment, 2 years of which supervisory experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in the monitoring of workload and quality of outputs, provision of guidance on complex cases, technical queries, training/coaching, and mentoring
  • The candidates should possess practical experience in Entitlement and Adjudication and knowledge of WSCC operations
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory criminal record check

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide quality control for all program processes, claims costs, and staff supervision for seven (7) direct reports in the Claims Processing Unit
  • The candidates should be able to determine eligibility/ineligibility for entitlement on all progressive, psychological, harvester, and complex or controversial files
  • The candidates should be able to act as a liaison between the Committee, appellants, representatives, and other interested parties
  • The candidates should be able to perform supervisory and personnel functions of the Claims Processing Unit and provide advice to the Manager, Claims Processing
