Salary: $20.00 to $22.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 4 to 44 hours per week

Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, On Call, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Willing to travel, Willing to travel regularly, Valid driver’s licence, and Travel expenses paid by employer
Work setting: Group home, Work in employer’s/client’s home, Community agency, Various locations, Women’s shelter, Women’s drop-in centre, School help service, Mental health institution, facility or clinic, Youth drop-in centre, Children’s services facility, Community centre, Private residence, Public school, and Before and after school programs
Supervision: No supervision responsibility

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College/CEGEP or equivalent experience, Child care and support services management, Developmental services worker, Social work, other, Mental health counselling/counsellor, Mental and social health services and allied professions, other, and Maternal and child health.
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic mail, MS Office
Credentials: Understanding and managing aggressive behaviour (UMAB) course, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child welfare check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a strong understanding of child welfare and be prepared to work in potentially dangerous situations, with knowledge of personal and social adjustment and health issues, including substance abuse, gambling, and behavior disorders
  • The candidates should be experienced in early intervention programming for at-risk youth and have expertise in providing services for pregnant teens, as well as experience with programs dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment, capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
  • The candidates should be physically capable of meeting demanding job requirements, demonstrating attention to detail, and able to handle a large workload, including weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be accurate in their work, possess efficient interpersonal skills, and have excellent oral communication abilities
  • The candidates should demonstrate interpersonal awareness, exhibit good judgment, and uphold strong values and ethics
  • The candidates should prioritize client focus, have excellent written communication skills, and demonstrate flexibility
  • The candidates should show initiative, be team players, and be organized

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare reports or case histories accurately and comprehensively, perform administrative and office activities efficiently, and appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services effectively
  • The candidates should be able to implement life skills workshops to support client development, supervise terms of probation orders as required, and develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
  • The candidates should be able to perform housekeeping activities to maintain cleanliness and organization, prepare food according to dietary requirements and preferences, and provide suicide and crisis intervention support when needed
  • The candidates should be able to resolve conflict situations calmly and effectively, supervise activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses, and supervise children’s visits with parents to ensure their safety
  • The candidates should be able to implement substance abuse treatment programs to support recovery, implement behavior management programs to address specific needs, and assist clients/guests with special needs with care and sensitivity
  • The candidates should be able to accompany clients to appointments and social outings as required, and offer mentoring and support to clients seeking guidance
