Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to show experience or training in child protection services and familiarity with the screening process for child protection cases
  • The candidates should be in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
  • The candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR a Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR a Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree
  • The candidates should have education in Human Services fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology, or Nursing
  • The candidates should provide a full list of related work experience and should demonstrate job specific experience
  • The candidates should possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the responsibilities and objectives of the Ministry concerning the regional and province-wide delivery of services and programs aimed at supporting positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth, and their families
  • The candidates should be able to exhibit the ability to work in a hybrid work setting, with the flexibility to transition between remote work and in-office work on immediate notice, as dictated by the Business Continuity Plan or operational requirements
  • The candidates should be able to possess or be eligible for current C6 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA), allowing them to perform specific duties related to child protection services
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate recent experience and familiarity with provincial child protection protocols and procedures by having held C6 delegation and worked in a delegated child protection position in British Columbia within the past 2 years
  • The candidates should be able to reside near their designated office to ensure they can respond promptly to requests for in-office work when necessary, in line with the requirements of the Business Continuity Plan or operational
