Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical experience within Pediatrics

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge and skills in the application of advanced nursing processes (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and current nursing practice to ensure that the surgical patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs are met
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of education principles related to adult learners in order to develop and deliver subject-specific training and development
  • The candidates should have knowledge and ability to use computers, operate word processing applications, send and receive electronic mail, and conduct research over the internet
  • The candidates should have the ability to educate patients and their families (where applicable) on appropriate self-care methods and techniques
  • The candidates should be skilled in implementing, monitoring, and auditing patient and organizational safety initiatives

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for ensuring the quality of care within the Pediatrics Unit, including providing clinical leadership, education, and support to all Pediatric Nurses
  • The candidates should be able to work with nursing staff and in consultation with the Manager, Hospitalists, Pediatricians, and Psychiatrists to implement patient treatment planning, and patient & family care
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the appropriate transition of patients back to the community through communication, planning, and coordination with NTHSSA Regions (including but not limited to Community Health Centers, Social Programs), non-government organizations, and other stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to provide clinical supervision, mentorship, support, education, and guidance to Registered Nurses (RNs) in the provision of patient care
  • The candidates should be able to model and promote excellence through the demonstration of clinical best practices with patients in collaboration with RNs, and provide seasoned advice and recommendations to RNs, to help them effectively address difficult, complex, or unusual situations
  • The candidates should be able to help guide nurses from task orientation to more empowered analytical thinking and care-giving approaches as an educator, resource, and mentor
  • The candidates should be able to remain calm, controlled, and professional, and to demonstrate compassionate care to the client, family, and other members of the health care team

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get a pro-rated annual Northern Allowance of $1.90 per hour and receive a $5000 supplement upon hire and an additional $5000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment
