Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of two years of experience in a designated communications, public relations, public affairs, public information or related position, ideally within a large complex organization

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of public relations, corporate communications principles, and corporate marketing principles and techniques and demonstrate the ability to gather technical information and translate it into accessible communications materials
  • The candidates should have a proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver quality communication products and advice on time and possess general knowledge of advertising, media, social media, video and design coordination, and print production
  • The candidates should have a proven track record of building effective working relationships at all levels of an organization and demonstrate a respectful and inclusive working style and exhibit strong written and verbal communications skills, with demonstrated experience creating formal business materials
  • The candidates should have experience and proficiency with contemporary technology (Google platform, photography/videography equipment)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist in the development and implementation of integrated communications plans involving a range of tactics, teams, and projects
  • The candidates should be able to draft and proof copy for news releases, public service announcements, backgrounders, collateral materials, newsletters, advertising copy, key messages, speaking notes, and other communications materials
  • The candidates should be able to develop engaging, shareable content for the City of Edmonton’s website and digital channels, coordinate and facilitate messaging for internal and external communications, and liaise with internal colleagues, external suppliers, and stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate revision, approvals, production, and distribution of communication materials (posters, leaflets, brochures, guides, newsletters, videos, and advertisements), and liaise with suppliers and internal colleagues to ensure products meet objectives and specifications, on time and within budget
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required and have the ability to work outside of usual business hours, as needed
